YOUNG SCHOLARS PROGRAM
IN LOVING MEMORY OF IRENE RANDALL MCCREA
Irene Randall McCrea Scholarship
One day I was talking with a friend and I asked her, "What makes you such a dedicated educator?" My friend responded, in the fall of 1980, my mother was expecting with the eighth child. This was such an exciting time for me because this meant I would experience a younger sibling in the home. You see, the frequency of mother's births caused me not to have any remembrances of a baby being in the home. One day my mother said to my sisters and me, "I want you girls to finish high school and get an education. You need to be able to take care of yourself." I smiled at her, knowing all the time I had plans to attend college. My surprise to my mother would be my graduating from college. Unfortunately, two days later, my mother died in childbirth along with the baby boy she never delivered. This event marked an ending yet a genesis of change in my life.

Today, my friend purports, "I am dedicated to my work by being an innovative teacher, educational leader, professor, mentor, and a person devoted to improving the education and information technology skills of humanity. My dedication is to improving all populations, which is evident of my professional and community services. The hallmark of my character is marked by quality, dedication to learning, intellectual curiosity, combined with personal ethics and integrity. There is no doubt in my mind that these traits, which have impacted my vision, mission, and goals for education, stems from my mother's desire and dedication to teaching and training me in kingdom principles. Today, I honor my mother in a tribute to support the education of young scholars not only to pursue their dreams but to make them corporealities."

On May 21, 2006, the Irene Randall McCrea Scholarship was awarded to Mr. Christopher Mungol, valedictorian of his high school class. Mr. Mungol was a student whose character was and still is marked by quality, dedication to learning, intellectual curiosity, combined with personal ethics and integrity. These qualities are the hallmark of the Irene Randall McCrea Scholarship.

They happen to break you down and build you up so you can be all that you were intended to be."

The first Restoration of Hope Scholarship was issued to Mr. Joshua Guallett who is now attending a Univeristy in Georgia.
